Lady's Companion

Companionship with intelligence and discretion

A Lady’s Companion offers a thoughtful, steady presence within private life. The role is personal rather than transactional: it may encompass conversation, social and cultural interests, practical support, and the confidence to move through a household or international schedule with grace.

Assel Maison brings the founder’s lived experience of UHNW households to every brief. We personally assess and reference candidates, and shortlisted candidates undergo appropriate DBS checks and sign NDAs. Our network includes Arabic-speaking candidates and professionals familiar with GCC household life, when a family’s language, culture, or travel pattern makes that experience relevant.

Expertise

Areas of Experience

01

Considered Daily Companionship

Offering intelligent, warm company that respects the principal’s character, pace, and privacy.

A Lady’s Companion understands that companionship is built through attention rather than performance. They may share conversation, reading, walks, cultural interests, or the simple shape of a day, while recognising when quiet is preferred. The relationship develops from trust and good judgement. Candidates bring their own interests and presence, but never impose them on the person they are there to support.

02

Appointments & Personal Support

Helping the principal approach appointments, engagements, and everyday arrangements with ease.

The brief may include accompanying a principal to appointments, organising practical details around an outing, keeping track of personal preferences, or providing a second pair of eyes when plans are busy. A companion can offer continuity between home and the outside world without turning support into administration. Their manner is attentive and capable, with the boundaries that private life requires.

03

Travel & International Life

Moving comfortably between residences, destinations, and the changing rhythm of an international household.

Some Lady’s Companions travel with a principal between London, the UK, the GCC, and other residences. They may help make an unfamiliar environment feel settled, accompany social or cultural plans, and adapt with calm to changes in itinerary. The role requires flexibility and cultural sensitivity, as well as respect for the household staff and local arrangements supporting each destination.

04

Social & Cultural Engagement

Supporting a full life of interests, invitations, hosting, and meaningful connection.

A companion may be involved in preparing for a dinner, attending an exhibition, accompanying a visit, or helping a principal enjoy a long-standing interest. Their contribution is not to take over the occasion, but to make it easier and more enjoyable. They read social settings well, understand the level of formality required, and remain discreet whether the moment is public or entirely private.

05

Household Liaison

Communicating thoughtfully with the private team so personal support remains joined-up and unobtrusive.

Depending on the household, a companion may liaise with a Personal Assistant, House Manager, chauffeur, chef, or family office. Clear communication protects the principal’s time and prevents small practical matters becoming distractions. Candidates understand that they are part of a wider team, while also preserving the confidential and individual nature of the companionship they provide.

06

Discretion & Personal Fit

Finding a person whose character, judgement, and presence are genuinely suited to the appointment.

The success of a Lady’s Companion placement rests on personal fit as much as experience. Assel Maison takes time to understand the household’s culture, the principal’s interests, and the boundaries of the role before presenting a candidate. Every candidate is personally assessed and referenced, with aftercare throughout the appointment. You will hear from us personally within one business day.
